Soil development in the context of historical land use of northern Jordan.
In: Jahrestagung der DBG 2015: Unsere Böden - unser Leben, 05.-10.09.2015, München.
Kurzfassung
Material culture scatters on agricultural fields in the context of soil properties were surveyed in the vicinity of the sites of Abila and Umm el-Jimal, northern Jordan. This method has potential to reconstruct ancient activities on the fields and connect them with periods of landscape change. First results indicate that there is indeed a correlation of activity indicated by material culture and levels of plant-available phosphate. Land surfaces of level plateaus seem old and stable, but soil creep seems to occur at the plateau edges.
