Abstract

A laboratory based test system was developed, in which the endogeic earthworm Aporrectodea caliginosa serves as bioindicator for soil quality. The system uses soil filled 2D terraria. Moisture is standardized to water holding capacity. Earthworm activity is measured as trace area of burrows and earthworm casts at the terrarium glass plate. Test results for 17 soils are presented.
